Pianist based in Vienna. Bösendorfer Artist since 2020, and laureate of numerous international piano competitions.
Pavel Kachnov took his first steps in music in Kyiv, studying with professors I. Barinova, B. Fedorov and B. Arkhimovich. While still young, he moved to Vienna to complete his musical education at the University of Music and Performing Arts (MDW), in the class of the celebrated pianist and professor Oleg Maisenberg. After graduating, he continued to refine his artistry with Professor Albert Mamriev.
Pavel is a laureate of numerous international piano competitions, and takes part regularly in European festivals such as Classics on the Danube, the Orbetello Music Festival (Italy), the Lafnitz Classical Music Festival and the Liszt Festival in Raiding (Austria), and the Menorah Piano Festival in Duisburg. After his performance of Liszt's formidably difficult Malédiction at the 2019 Liszt Festival, Vienna State Opera star Herbert Lippert spoke about him on Austrian television.

He has given concerts across Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova, in halls including the Vienna Musikverein, the ORF concert hall, the Zaragoza Auditorium, the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, the Verdi Conservatory hall in Turin, the San Pedro Auditorium in Monterrey, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Łódź Philharmonic, the Mersin Opera and Ballet Theatre, the theatres of Halberstadt and Wernigerode in Germany, the Bulgarian National Radio Hall, and the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Stara Zagora, among others.
He has performed alongside Krassimira Stoyanova, Pavel Vernikov and Moni Ovadia, with conductors including Erich Binder, Ovidiu Balan, Franz Anton Krager, Christian Fitzner, Johannes Rieger, Kirill Karabits, Volodymyr Sirenko and Hiromi Sakaguchi, and with orchestras such as the San Remo Orchestra, the Balearic Islands Orchestra, the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra and the Raiding Festival Orchestra, among others.
In October 2018, Pavel recorded a CD of works by Franz Liszt, later broadcast twice by the Austrian radio station ORF. At the age of 27, he received the status of professor at the Vienna Prayner Conservatory. In 2017 he founded his own International Piano Competition in Kyiv, which has grown into a well-regarded event among pianists worldwide. In 2020, Pavel became a Bösendorfer Artist. In autumn 2023, he made his debut in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Berliner Philharmonie and the Salzburg Festspielhaus, performing with the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (China).
